The town of Apriltsi
A corner of paradise in the heart of the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina): a resort town with unique nature, clean mountain air, a mild winter and a cool summer.
Four villages, one town
Apriltsi is in Lovech Province, near Troyan. The town was created by merging four large villages, which are now its quarters: Novo Selo, Zla Reka, Vidima and Ostrets. They were merged in 1976, and the name was chosen in honour of the heroic events of the April Uprising. In those times Vasil Levski himself was active here.
Apriltsi has kept its Balkan spirit and its cultural heritage, and in recent years it has been turning into a modern resort.
Nature below Mount Botev
The area is known for its beautiful, untouched nature: countless paths, mountain rapids, slopes and meadows with broadleaf, coniferous and alpine plants, thick forests, pretty little bridges, small picturesque waterfalls and clear rivers. That is why mountain tourism has grown here in recent years.
The town lies below Mount Botev, and the peak is quick and easy to reach from it. Along the ridge of the Balkan Mountains there are vast green meadows and pastures, and the sunrises and sunsets in the heart of the range are like no others.
